Employees of JCBank pitched in on Friday, April 28th to help build a Habitat for Humanity home for a family in Greenwood. The volunteers assisted with the framing of the home, which included the building of the exterior and interior walls. 

The activity underscores the community bank’s values and helps build strength and stability in the community by supporting the Johnson County organization, according to President and CEO Marvin Veatch. 

“JCBank’s leadership is guided by our core values of Honesty, Encouragement, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork – or ‘HEART’,” explained Veatch. “The bank and our employees are committed to each of the communities we serve, not only to provide banking, investment, and trust services, but to be an involved and supportive neighbor and partner.”

Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County builds strength, stability, self-reliance, and shelter with homeowners who have met the criteria of the organization. Habitat homeowners pay a modest down payment, invest 250 hours of “sweat equity,” which includes construction of their home, and are responsible for paying their affordable home mortgage once construction is complete. Through the extensive homeowner education program, personal budgeting, and financial counseling, Habitat homeowners are given the tools to be successful in this life-changing endeavor.

In addition to its recent hands-on assistance, JCBank donated $6,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County to help with the expense of the build. With an affordable, stable home, families often have more to spend on food, medicine, childcare, education, and other essentials.
